On Tuesday 8th July, the REPPP Team hosted a visit by the Management Board of the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration to the . 

The Management Board took time out of their 2-day Board Meeting, which was held in Limerick, to meet with the REPPP team in Plassey House, UL.  The Board were welcomed, on behalf of UL, by Dr Ray Friel of the School of Law. The ‘meet and greet’ in Plassey House provided an opportunity for Board members to view the range of research publications and posters produced by REPPP and to discuss individual research projects with the Team.  REPPP Director, Dr Seán Redmond, presented on the origins of REPPP and its current programme, while Stable Lives Safer Streets Project Lead Dr Catherine Naughton presented on REPPP’s all-Ireland research collaboration with Queens University Belfast and the Centre for Effective Services.  REPPP Assistant Director, Helen Fitzgerald, spoke about REPPP’s EUDA-funded Safe Futures project which is bringing the REPPP learning into a European context.

Reflecting on the visit, Dr Seán Redmond, said.

“We were delighted to host the management board of the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration to the today. It was a rare opportunity for researchers to meet the most senior officials in Ireland dealing with justice-related matters and discuss REPPP’s important work. It was also an opportunity for senior decision makers to see first hand how the investment in REPPP is transformed into generating new knowledge about youth crime and effective interventions that are practical and evidence based”.
