RTE Brainstorm published an article on  by Gail Flanagan, a PhD Candidate in the School of Modern Languages and Applied Linguistics (MLAL). 

The piece delves into the linguistic word formation processes that prompt the constant creation of new words. The selection process that dictionary providers follow to nominate their Words of the Year is also described, including lots of examples from this and previous years lists. 

Gail also featured on the Sean Moncrieff show (on Monday, 9th December) for a lively chat about the relevance of these Words of the Year to our daily lives.
