KT Boost Programme & European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Support

The UL TTO is supported by KT Boost, a programme co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the ERDF Southern, Eastern & Midland Regional Programme 2021-27. The programme’s objective is to support an increase in research commercialisation outcomes from within this sector, both regionally and nationally, and to develop consistent practices across the knowledge transfer (KT) sector.

The UL KT Boost Programme has four strategic goals:

• Accelerate the diffusion of innovations within our region by growing Knowledge Transfer (KT) capacity and capability.

• Expand our entrepreneurial ecosystem and stimulate a business mindset within our academic and researcher staff to achieve a step increase in spinout company formation.

• Strategically enhancing our business engagement capabilities by: focusing on sectors of importance identified in S3 for the Southern region, deepening our links with SMEs to enhance their innovation capacity, leveraging our strong links with MNC’s for greater collaboration between MNCs and indigenous SMEs.

• Improve the quality, consistency, and agility of Knowledge Transfer support services using feedback from companies, investors, founders and researchers.

The programme is administered by Enterprise Ireland, and co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), which aims to promote economic, social and territorial cohesion across all European regions.

The Managing Authorities for the ERDF in the Southern Region are the Southern Regional Assembly.
